How to remove old Users from the Content Store

Troubleshooting


Problem

There are Users that no longer access the IBM Cognos environment. Their account details including My Folders still reside in the Content Store but not in the namespace. How do you remove these Users from the Content Store?

Search about CM-REQ-4230 messages in the cogserver.log

Resolving The Problem

Run a Consistency Check

The following Tasks require a Full Backup of the Content Store database.


1) - Log on as a system administrator in each available namespace (The Tasks cause issues if you don't log in to all namespaces)
2) - Launch IBM Cognos Administration
3) - Click on the Configuration Tab
4) - Select Content Administration on the left hand pane
5) - Click on the new Content Maintenance toolbar icon on the top right of the screen
6) - Select New Consistency Check
7) - Provide a name for the task and click next
8) - Select References to external namespaces
9) - Select all namespaces and click next
10) - Select Save and Run once
11) - Select Run Now
12) - Make sure to select Find and Fix

The Consistency Check compares the Users in the Content Store with the Users in the namespace. If the user does not reside in the namespace, it removes it from the Content Store.
