FastBack Server Software Requirements:


Operating System: Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP 2, or later

Notes:
  • The Boot and Windows OS partitions must be formatted in NTFS for all versions.
  • Before installing FastBack Manager on a computer with the Microsoft Window 2008 operating system, Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) should be disabled. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852
  • When installing the FastBack Server, the FastBack Server needs to be added as a member of a domain

FastBack Server Hardware Requirements:


Processor: Minimum:
  • 3 Ghz Dual Pentium D compatible or higher.

Recommended:
  • If using Deduplication: 4 processor cores at 3 GHz Intel® Xeon® or compatible
Memory: Minimum:
  • 2GB RAM or higher.
  • 2GB of Virtual Memory or higher.

Recommended:
  • 8GB RAM or higher.
  • 2GB of Virtual Memory or higher.
Disk Space:
  • 200MB minimum for the configuration files and snapshot database files.
  • If using Deduplication: the minimum requirement is 1 GB.
  • Repository disk space should be 3 to 5 times the size of the amount of data you are protecting.
Network Interface Card (NIC): Minimum:
  • 1 NIC - 100Mbps.

Recommended:
  • 1 NIC - 1Gbps
Notes:
  • Repository objects that are drives/disks should be no greater then 2 TB
  • Repository objects that are volumes/folders/shares should be no greater then 16 TB
  • FastBack Server can backup up to 8 TB worth of production data, and the repository size should be 3 to 5 times the amount of production data backed up.
  • The total repository size per FastBack Server should be no greater then 40TB.

Notes:
  • FastBack Client only supports the 32-bit version of Windows XP and Windows 2000.
  • The Boot and Windows OS partitions must be formatted in NTFS.
  • For Windows 2003 and Windows 2008, the following x86 platforms are supported:
    • 32-bit processors, and
    • 64 - AMD and EM64.
  • For Windows 2003 and Windows 2008, the following 64-bit platforms are supported:
    • 64 - AMD and EM64 and
    • IA64 - Itanium.
  • Before you install the FastBack Client on a supported Windows 2003 operating system, ensure that the following Windows components are installed:
    • The Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service
    • Component Services (COM+)
  • Linux supported on x86 instruction set architecture

FastBack Client Hardware Requirements:

  • 733MHz Intel Celeron compatible or Higher.

Recommended:
  • Dual Core 2 GHz Intel Pentium III or higher
Memory: Minimum:
  • 512MB RAM or higher.
  • 2GB of Virtual Memory or higher.

Recommended:
  • 4GB RAM or higher.
  • 2GB of Virtual Memory or higher.
Disk Space:
  • 200MB in the 'Documents and Settings' folder minimum for the configuration files.
Network Interface Card (NIC): Minimum:
  • 1 NIC - 100Mbps.

Recommended:
  • 1 NIC - 1Gbps
Notes:
  • FastBack Client is intended to protect disks no greater than 2TB.

Linux Clients:

Processor: Minimum:
  • 1 GHz Intel Pentium III or higher

Recommended:
  • Dual Core 2 GHz Intel Pentium III or higher

  • Linux Client only supports simple volumes.
  • Communication Protocol: TCP/IP Version 4 or Version 6 (standard with Linux shared memory protocol)

  • Repository disk space should be the same or greater then your FastBack Server Repository

Notes:
  • The size of the FastBack Disaster Recovery Repository requirements can change depending if you are replicating multiple FastBack Servers, one FastBack Server, or only a subset of the backups.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2003 must NOT be installed.
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, 2007, or 2010 must be installed.
  • Exchange Server 2003 systems, SP 2, or later.
  • Exchange Server 2007 systems, SP 1 Rollup 4, or later.
  • For Exchange 2007: Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) MAPI 1.2.1 package version 6.5.8069.0, or later

  • All Exchange Server 2003, 2007, and 2010 users must apply the latest available Exchange Server patches from Microsoft.
  • Microsoft Exchange 2010 is supported on Windows Server 2008 x64 and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 only.

FastBack For Exchange Hardware Requirements:

  • 2 Ghz Intel Pentium compatible or higher.

  • 1GB RAM or higher.

  • 2GB RAM or higher.
Disk Space:
  • 300MB free hard disk space.
Network Interface Card (NIC): Minimum:
  • 1 NIC - 100Mbps.

Recommended:
  • 1 NIC - 1Gbps
Notes:
  • FastBack For Exchange must be installed on the Exchange server.
  • When restoring public folders, a separate recovery server is required.



FastBack For Bare Machine Recovery Software Requirements:

Operating System:
  • FastBack CD must be created on a Windows 32-bit platform.
Notes:
  • Support up to Windows PE 2.1 (PE 2008)

FastBack For Bare Machine Recovery Hardware Requirements:

Processor:
  • x86 processors (32 bit) with Windows® 32-bit operating systems
  • x64 (AMD64 and EM64T) processors with Windows 64-bit operating systems
  • IA64 (Intel® Itanium®) processors with Windows 64-bit operating systems
Memory: Minimum:
  • 2GB RAM or higher.
  • 2GB of Virtual Memory or higher.

Recommended:
  • 4GB RAM or higher.
  • 2GB of Virtual Memory or higher.
Disk Space:
  • The same disk space or greater to as the original protected server.
Network Interface Card (NIC): Minimum:
  • 1 NIC - 100Mbps.

Recommended:
  • 1 NIC - 1Gbps
Notes:
  • CD-Rom Drive required.
  • FastBack For Bare Machine Recovery (BMR) requires creation of a FastBack BMR CD before the recovery process can be performed.

FastBack Reporting Software Requirements:

Other Software:
  • IBM Tivoli Common Reporting, version 1.2 Fix Pack 1.
  • FastBack Server Version 5.5.4 or later.
  • Internet Explorer version 8 or later, or Mozilla Firefox
Notes:
  • FastBack Reporting must be installed on the same machine as the FastBack Server.

FastBack Reporting Hardware Requirements:


Processor: Minimum:
  • 3 Ghz Dual Pentium D compatible or higher.
Memory: Minimum:
  • 3GB RAM or higher.
  • 2GB of Virtual Memory or higher.

Recommended:
  • 4GB RAM or higher.
  • 2GB of Virtual Memory or higher.
Disk Space:
  • 200MB in the 'Documents and Settings' folder minimum for the configuration files.
  • Additional 30GB free space (minimum). Requirement Increases as historical data is gathered and stored.
  • At least 10GB free space should be available in the home directory where the historical data is stored.
Network Interface Card (NIC): Minimum:
  • 1 NIC - 100Mbps.

Recommended:
  • 1 NIC - 1Gbps
