Incompatibility between Rational Business Developer v8.0.1 and Rational Software Architect, Rational Application Developer v8.0.2 products

Problem

Unable to update the following products to v8.0.2, if Rational Business Developer v8.0.1 is installed in the same shell (workspace): Rational Software Architect Rational Software Architect for WebSphere Software Rational Application Developer Rational Application Developer Standard Edition for WebSphere Software

Symptom

The Installation Manager will block an upgrade to v8.0.2 for the products listed above, if Rational Business Developer v8.0.1 is installed, as shown below.

IBM® Rational® Software Architect to 8.0.2 is not allowed; it is not compatible with
IBM® Rational® Business Developer 8.0.1.

In installation context "com.ibm.sdp.eclipse.ide":

Cause

In this case, the upgrade is blocked to prevent potential run-time issues that could occur due to a plug-in incompatibility between both products.

Resolving The Problem

Currently, to work-around this issue, un-install Rational Business Developer v8.0.1 and then proceed with the upgrade.

Note: This issue will be resolved in the next Rational Business Developer Fix Pack. Once this Fix Pack is available, both the upgrade to the Rational Business Developer Fix Pack and v8.0.2 of the Rational Software Architect / Rational Application Developer product(s) may be done at the same time.
