Redeploy the Maximo EAR File(s)

Question

Process to deploy a new Maximo and/or Maximo help EAR file in an existing environment

Answer

WebSphere

1. Build the EAR file(s)

from a command prompt change to the maximo\deployment folder and run buildmaximoear to build the Maximo EAR and buildhelpear to build the Maximo Help EAR.

Note: If using Windows 2008, command prompt needs to be opened as 'Run as administrator'

2. Log into the Integrated Solution Console

http://<server>:<port>/admin

i.e. mxserver:9060/admin

3. Expand Servers and click Application Servers

4. Check the box next to the Maximo Application Server (i.e. MXServer)

5. Click Stop

6. Expand Applications

7. Click Enterprise Applications

8. Check the box next to application for the EAR you are redeploying (i.e. Maximo)

9. Click Uninstall

10. Once uninstalled, Click Install

11. Browse to the location of the EAR you are deploying (i.e. maximo\deployment\default\maximo.ear)

12. Click Next

13. Click Next

14. Select all components and Select the Application Server (i.e. MXServer) and webserver if you have a web server configured.

15. Click Apply

16. Click Next

17. Select the correct virtual host (i.e. maximo_host) for each component

18. Click Next

19. Click Finish

20. When the EAR is deployed Click Save to Master Configuration

21. From the file structure delete the following folders/files

a. ibm\websphere\appserver\profiles\<app server profile>\temp\<node>\<app server> folder

i.e. ibm\websphere\appserver\profiles\ctgappsrv01\temp\ctgnode01\mxserver

b. ibm\websphere\appserver\profiles\<app server profile>\wstemp, delete files in this folder

c. ibm\websphere\appserver\profiles\<app server profile>\tranlog\<cell>\<node>\<app server> folder

i.e. ibm\websphere\appserver\profiles\ctgappsrv01\tranlog\ctgcell01\ctgnode01\mxserver

d. ibm\websphere\appserver\profiles\<app server profile>\logs\<app server> folder

e. ibm\websphere\appserver\profiles\<app server profile>\logs\ffdc folder

22. Start the Maximo Application Server

WebLogic 9

1. Build the EAR file(s)

from a command prompt change to the maximo\deployment folder and run buildmaximoear to build the Maximo EAR and buildhelpear to build the Maximo Help EAR.

2. Log into the Administration Console

http://<server>:<port>/console

i.e. mxserver:7001/console

3. Click Lock & Edit

4. Click Deployments

5. Select the application for the EAR you are redeploying (i.e. Maximo)

6. click Delete

7. Once deleted, Click Install

8. Browse to location of the maximo.ear and select (i.e. maximo\deployment\default)

9. Click Next

10. Select Install this deployment as an application

11. Click Next

12. Click Finish

13. Click Activate Changes

14. From the file structure delete the files in the following folder

bea\user_projects\domains\<domain>\servers\<app server>\tmp

i.e. bea\user_projects\domains\base_domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp

15. Start the Maximo Application Server

WebLogic 8

1. Build the EAR file(s)

from a command prompt change to the maximo\deployment folder and run buildmaximoear to build the Maximo EAR and buildhelpear to build the Maximo Help EAR.

Note: If using Windows 2008, command prompt needs to be opened as 'Run as administrator'

2. Log into the Administration Console

http://<server>:<port>/console

i.e. mxserver:7001/console

3. Expand Deployments

4. Click Applications

5. click the trash can icon for the application you are redeploying (i.e. maximo)

6. Click Yes

7. Click Continue

8. Once deleted, Click Deploy a new Application

9. Browse to location of the maximo.ear and select (i.e. maximo\deployment\default)

10. Click Continue

11. Click Deploy

12. Stop the Maximo Application Server

13. From the file structure delete the following folder

bea\user_projects\domains\<domain>\<app server>

i.e. bea\user_projects\domains\mydomain\maximoserver

14. Start the Maximo Application Server
