Installation instructions and generic keys for JRules

The procedure to follow depends on which JRules version you are using. To find out which version you are currently trying to install, execute the installer, find the JRules version on the first panel and quit the installer.

First, download the JRules Replacement Keys attached at the bottom of this document, then proceed to the instructions below for your version:

Procedure to be used for JRules 4.6 and 5.x
  1. Go to your HOME directory (see below FAQ "Where is my ILOG Rights file stored ?") and delete file named ilogrights.txt and .ilogcustomerid.txt that may exist in this directory.
  2. Copy the new ilogrights.txt in this directory.
  3. Launch installer and click "Next". If you have a dialog box "saying The ILOG installation password that you have typed is not valid". Ignore this message and click "OK".
  4. Installer will try to fetch ilogrights.txt on the license server. If you are connected to the Internet, you will get the same ilogrights.txt otherwise press "Cancel" to let the installer continue with ilogrights.txt you have just copied in your HOME directory.
  5. The next panel should confirm that "Your ILOG Rights file has been successfully retrieved and read. You may now proceed with the installation of your product.". If it is not the case, check the ilogrights.txt has been correctly copied in this location and you have the read permission on this file.

Procedure to be used for JRules 6.5, 6.6, 6.7
  1. Go to your HOME directory (see below FAQ "Where is my ILOG Rights file stored ?") and delete file named ilogrights.txt and .ilogcustomerid.txt that may exist in this directory
  2. Copy the new ilogrights.txt in this directory.
  3. Launch installer
  4. Choose the module/edition you want to install
  5. When you are prompted to "Enter your ILOG Installation Password) enter "1005-0620-3674" and click "Next".
  6. The next panel should confirm that "Your ILOG Rights file has been successfully retrieved and read. You may now proceed with the installation of your product.". If it is not the case, check the ilogrights.txt has been correctly copied in this location and you have the read permission on this file.

Where is my ILOG Rights file stored?

By default, the JRules installer searches for and saves the ILOG Rights file, named ilogrights.txt, in the directory referenced by the user.home Java property. This property usually refers to the user home directory.
  • On UNIX systems (Solaris, GNU/Linux, ...), your home directory is usually /home/ but it may also be /nfs/home/ or something else depending on your local configuration. Your actual home directory location is stored in the HOME environment variable. So your ILOG Rights file is stored by default as $HOME/ilogrights.txt.
  • On Windows systems, your home directory is usually C:\Documents and Settings\. Your actual home directory location is stored in the USERPROFILE environment variable. So your ILOG Rights file is stored by default as %USERPROFILE%\ilogrights.txt.
  • On MacOSX, your home directory is usually /Users/. Your actual home directory location is stored in the HOME environment variable. So your ILOG Rights file is stored by default as $HOME/ilogrights.txt.

Note: For JRules 7.0 and above; neither ilogright.txt file nor password is needed.
