Physical paths may appear in dbdirman.nsf when using database links to files located outside the Domino data directory

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem

You have one or more databases that reside outside the Domino data directory, and database links are used to make them a logical extension of the server's data. With this configuration, you notice that some databases will appear with entries in dbdirman.nsf that show the physical path to the database instead of the logical one. The condition occurs unpredictably but does occur with regularity to various databases. Databases exhibiting this condition may encounter problems with replication or the Out Of Office service. Why does this occur, and how can it be resolved?

Cause

This issue is caused by a flaw in the code that under certain conditions causes the in-memory representation of a database to be created with just the physical path information instead of both the physical and logical paths.

Resolving the problem

This issue is now fixed in Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5.3

Fix details: SPR# CSCT8AZMQQ

Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.
