AWSJCO005E or SRVE0255E errors logging in to TDWC

Troubleshooting


Problem

SRVE0255E error is received when attempting to navigate to the Tivoli Dynamic Workload Console (TDWC) URL: [https://my_server:31124]

Symptom

SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle / has not been defined.
SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle my_server:31124 has not been defined.

When checking the port (31124 in the example above), netstat shows the appserver to be "LISTENING":

netstat -a|grep 31124

AWSUI0766E Test connection to [prod] : failed.
AWSUI0833E The operation could not be completed. There has been a communication failure.
The internal message is: AWSJCO005E WebSphere Application Server has given the following error: A communication failure occurred while attempting to obtain an initial context with the provider URL:

Cause

Incorrect (truncated) URL is being used to make the connection.

Also, if the TDWC is installed on a remote workstation, DNS may not recognize the short host name for the master's workstation.

Resolving The Problem

Use the full, complete URL to login to the TDWC.

Example:


https://my_server.austin.ibm.com:31124/ibm/console/secure/securelogon.do

Also, if the TDWC is installed on a remote workstation, use the fully qualified domain name or IP address for the server in the URL.
