Question
How can you configure IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) to connect to multiple LDAP servers to provide access to a larger user community?
Cause
Some deployments will utilize multiple LDAP Servers for authentication instead of one single server.
Answer
When configuring WebSphere to connect to the LDAP server using a Federated Realm, multiple LDAP Server parameters can be added to allow for this configuration.
LIMITATIONS:
- In order to connect to multiple LDAP servers for authentication, RTC is required to be deployed on IBM WebSphere Application Server. Supported versions of Apache Tomcat do not currently support connecting to multiple LDAP Servers simultaneously.
- You will need to manually import users from different LDAP servers into Jazz. This is because the LDAP Nightly Sync will fail with this configuration. An Enhancement (jazz.net work item 14005) was filed to enable the LDAP Nightly Sync task to support Multiple LDAP Server configuration.
