Troubleshooting

Problem

The Crystal Reports; designer, SDK, enterprise development tools, and runtimes are not included with Rational Application Developer and the Rational System Architect Version 8.x

Symptom

Can't find Crystal reports in product.

Cause

Crystal Reports not included in the product.

Environment

Windows

Resolving The Problem

The Crystal Reports designer, SDK, enterprise development tools, and runtimes are not included with Rational Application Developer and the Rational System Architect Version 8.x. Development of Crystal Reports web applications in V 8.0 requires software that may be acquired from SAP. The required SAP component include Crystal Reports, Crystal Reports Server or BusinessObjects Enterprise.

To design Crystal reports see the solution “Crystal Reports for Eclipse” at http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/crystalreports-java

To migrate or develop web applications that interact with Crystal Reports see the Report Application Server Java SDK Developer Guide.
http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/rassdk_java_dg_12_en.zip

· After extracting the .zip, open default.htm

· On the Start Here topic, follow the “Setting up the development environment” link

· Then follow the “Web application setup” link

· This topic environment describes the web application configuration and the runtime (jars) required for deployment.

To migrate or use applications that integrate with your BusinessObjects Enterprise system find the BusinessObjects Enterprise Java SDK Developers Guide.
http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/boesdk_java_dg_12_en.zip

· After extracting the .zip, open default.htm

· On the “Start Here” topic, follow the “Setting up the development environment” link

· Then follow the “Web application setup” link

· This topic environment describes the web application configuration and the runtime (jars) required for deployment.

To migrate or develop applications that use JSF technology to integrate with the BusinessObjects Enterprise system find theBusinessObjects Enterprise JSF Components Developer Guide.

http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/boejsf_java_dg_12_en.zip

· After extracting the .zip, open default.htm

· See the “Sample Code” Topic

The JavaServer Faces tooling in Rational Application Developer and Rational System Architect includes a feature that supports other component libraries such as the BusinessObjects Enterprise JSF libraries. The Faces component library tooling introduced in V7.5 can recognize other libraries, present components on the tools palette, render in the Design view, expose Properties and Quick Edit views and, overall, become part of the integrated development environment on par with IBM's own JSF components. Developers define the capabilities by creating metadata. The tooling makes starting the metadata easy through a wizard interface. The developer then can further customize and enhance various aspects of the way the control is presented and integrate with the IDE using a specialized editor. The metatdata can be shared with other developers on the team. A better and more complete description of the generic JSF component library tooling is published on IBM developerWorks.
