IBM Support

Cannot install Rational Asset Manager Eclipse client into Rational Software Architect

Troubleshooting

Problem

You cannot use IBM Installation Manager or the Install New Software wizard to add the Eclipse client of IBM Rational Asset Manager to an instance of IBM Rational Software Architect. During the installation, you receive a message that states the singleton bundle "org.eclipse.epf.richtext_1.6.0.v20101028_0720" cannot be installed in this Eclipse configuration because there is a non-singleton bundle "org.eclipse.epf.richtext_1.5.0.v20080714_1745" that is aleady installed.

Cause

Both Rational Asset Manager and Rational Software Architect use the EPF Rich Text feature, which can cause file version conflicts during installation.

Note: You can install Rational Asset Manager with Rational Software Architect if the UML Modeling feature is not selected since the EPF feature in Rational Software Architect is only included with the UML Modeling feature.

Resolving The Problem

You cannot use Installation Manager to install Rational Asset Manager into Rational Software Architect.

Instead, in Rational Software Architect, use the Install New Software wizard to install Rational Asset Manager. For instructions, see this topic, but note the following exception:

In step 6, clear the EPF Rich Text feature. Because that feature is already installed, you do not need it.
