The Work Items perspective is not available in Rational Team Concert

Troubleshooting


Problem

This technote explains how to resolve the following issue: No Work Items perspective found when shell sharing IBM Rational Team Concert 3.0 with IBM Rational Software Architect 8.0 in Eclipse shell 3.6.

Symptom

The menu option Window -> Open Perspective -> Other does not show any "Work Item" perspective to select.

The menu option Window -> Show View -> Other does not show any "Work Item" view selections.

Cause

By default, Rational Software Architect capabilities are enabled and Rational Team Concert capabilities are disabled when shell-sharing these two applications.

Environment

Linux and Microsoft Windows x86 - x64 - Eclipse clients.

Diagnosing The Problem

Installed Rational Team Concert 3.0 along with Rational Software Architect 8.0 into Eclipse 3.6.1 shell and no Work Items perspective is available.

Help about shows that both Rational Team Concert 3.0 and Rational Software Architect 8.0 is installed in this shell.

Window -> Open Perspective -> Other does not show any "Work Item" perspective to select.

Click Window > Preferences > General > Capabilities and select the Team > Jazz Source Control check box.
