Troubleshooting


Problem

Collecting data for problem with Archiving operatoins in IBM WebSphere Partner Gateway (WPG). Gathering this MustGather information before calling IBM support will help expedite problem analysis.

Resolving The Problem


This section instructs the items of documentation required by the IBM WPG support team to diagnose the problem.


Firstly, please gather the following information and paste them to the PMR description:

  • Operating system and patch level
  • WPG version and fix pack level
  • Database version and fixpack level
  • Topology(Simple/Simple Distributed/Full Distributed?)
    (For instructions on how to get above information, refer to WPG ReadFirst Technote. )
  • A clear, specific problem scenario
  • How much documents was in traffic when the archiver was running last time?
  • When was the latest time database statistics update (link) (e.g. RUNSTATS) has been performed? (This information is mandatory for all PMR with Archiver performance.)


Secondly, please select the WPG level which the problematic system is running on. Then collect and upload MustGather data to the PMR:

Archiving issue in WPG 6.1 or 6.1.1


1. Provide the following information:

  1. Complete command line including parameters you entered to run the script
  2. Screenshots of error messages if any.
  3. Output log files if any.
  4. List of files and folders which are not being archived/purged/restore contrary to your expectations.
  5. DBArchiveParams.properties file, if this is multi-thread archival.(6.1.1)

2. Follow the instruction to send information to IBM Technical Support.

Archival issue in WPG 6.2.x


1. Enable WPG debug trace as possible.
  1. Start the WAS administrative console.
  2. Click Troubleshooting > Logs and Trace
  3. Select server name
    (e.g. Simple mode: 'server1'; Simple distributed: 'bcgserver'; Full distributed: both 'bcgconsole' and 'bcgdocmgr')
  4. Click Change Log Level Details.
  5. Select the Configuration tab.
  6. Enable debug trace by specifying the trace statement as:
    *=info:com.ibm.bcg.*=finest
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Save the changes, restart the affected bcgserver.


2. Perform the error scenario to recreate the problem as possible.

3. Collect the following data as required:

  1. Screenshots of the error messages observed on the WPG Console

  2. Screenshots of the Archiver Configuration and Archiver Report:
    Hub Admin > Archiver > Archiver Configuration
    Hub Admin > Archiver > Archiver Report

  3. The WPG debug log set, collected from both 'bcgconsole' and 'bcgdocmgr'
    <WPG_HUB_HOME>/wasND/profiles/<bcgprofile>/logs/<server_name>
    (Where the server_name refers to -  Simple mode: 'server1'; Simple distributed: 'bcgserver'; Full distributed: both 'bcgconsole' and 'bcgdocmgr')


4. Follow the instruction to send information to IBM Technical Support.
