Problem

I.T. administrator is installing Controller on the application server. Administrator opens a Command Prompt Window, and changes directory to: c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 Administrator runs the following command: aspnet_regiis.exe /i Administrator receives an error message.

Symptom

Windows Package Manager
Operation failed with 0x8007000B
An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
[OK]

Cause

When installing Controller server on a 64-bit Windows server, the command must be performed on the 64-bit version of ASP.NET.

Environment

64-bit Windows, for example Windows 2008 R2.

Resolving The Problem

Run the aspnet_regiis.exe /i command whilst inside the 64-bit .NET Framework folder ("Framework64").

Steps:

  1. Open a Command Prompt Window
  2. Change directory to: c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727
  3. Run the following command: aspnet_regiis.exe /i
