ATF/CICS ABEND After Applying Maintenance

Problem(Abstract)

After applying maintence (such as an RSU) that includes PTFs for ATF and ATF/CICS, attempts to run CICS regions that have ATF/CICS enabled receive multiple S0C1 or S0C7 ABENDS.

Symptom

Cause

PTFs UA45979, UA60524, UA61885, and UA65965 include a ++HOLD ACTION to rerun the assembly job for the CIKCTTCC/TTCCIVER source member in the SCIKINST library. This is an action normally performed only during the initial installation of ATF/CICS or any subsequent upgrade of CICS to a new release. But these PTFs add some new data to the resultant TTCC0xxx load module (where xxx is the current CICS release level) that is required for proper operation of other parts updated in the PTF. One of the effects of not performing the required action after applying these PTFs is a BALR to location 0 out of TTCEIOUT.


Diagnosing the problem

If examination of the TTCC0xxx module in the dump at the following offsets do not have the specified values, then the reassembly was not performed:

  • UA45979 - +10C through +11B and +190 through +1CF should be non-zero, +118 through +11B will be the address of offset +190.
  • UA60524 - +10C through +11B and +190 through +1CF should be non-zero, +118 through +11B will be the value x'00000190'
  • UA61885 - +11C through +123 and +1D0 through 1EF should be non-zero.
  • UA65965 - +124 through +12B should have the eye-catcher SER2072 followed by the date and time this module was assembled,.

The entry point for the module will be listed in a VERBX DFHPDxxx 'LD=3' report in the PROGRAM STORAGE MAP section.

Resolving the problem

Run the required assembly JCL.
