IBM WebSphere CloudBurst Appliance: Inconsisent use of case when defining hostnames may result in difficulty managing hypervisors

Flash (Alert)

Abstract

The WebSphere CloudBurst appliance Web GUI currently respects case sensitivity with regards to hostnames. Care should be taken to be consistent with respect to case when defining hostnames.

Content

The IBM WebSphere CloudBurst Appliance Web GUI currently respects case sensitivity with respect to hostnames in cloud groups. It is important to be consistent with use of upper and lower case when defining hostnames (i.e. the name "MyHost1" would be treated as a different hostname than "myhost1" for example).

If the two are not truly unique hosts, then hypervisor management issues may arise and recovery would necessitate deletion and recreation of all virtual machines.
