Changing the default value for the History? field in the Advanced Search

Is there a way to change the default value for the History? field so that it is not "N" in the More Search Fields screen?

Answer

In the Workorder Tracking application in Maximo, the Advanced Search - More Search Fields - History? field value defaults to "N" so that is does not include records with a status of Closed or Cancelled. This is a problem for users who want the default search to include all work orders including closed and cancelled.

To show historical records in the List tab by default you can set up a Saved Query and make it the default query instead of "All Records". To do this you would need to go to the Advanced Search / More Search Fields screen and remove the default "N" in the History? field and then click the Find button. Then click on Save Query and enter in a Query Name and description and check the Public and Default boxes, and then OK. Then whenever you go the Workorder application this query will be used by default and it will show both History and non History work orders. This Public query would have to be selected as the default under Save Query / View/Manage Queries for each user who wants to use it as their default. This method will also work for other applications, such as Invoices, that have a default History? value set to "N".
