Tivoli Netcool/Impact: Changing the Self-Monitoring configuration

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How do I ensure that Self-Monitoring for Tivoli Netcool/Impact picks up the changes that I made to the configuration?

Answer

If you use the graphical user interface or command line interface to change the Self-Monitoring configuration for Netcool Impact, you must restart the service to apply the changes.

This is because the configuration properties are read only at startup. The restart ensures that the changes are saved to the file.

For example, if you disable service monitoring in the graphical user interface and save the change only in the UI, the change will only take effect when you stop and restart the service. It also applies to any configuration changes that you make in the command line interface.
