Integration Framework - Action property in Flat File header record

Technote (FAQ)

Question

What are the valid values for the action property in a Flat File header record?

Answer

The action header property, in a Flat File structure, is an optional property that applies to the content of primary and child objects in and object structure. The action header property indicates the system’s inbound processing logic how to process the detail records in the flat file.
The following table lists the valid values for the action. Action values are case sensitive

Value Description
Add Add records to database in receiving system
AddChange Add or update existing records in the database in the receiving system
Change Update existing records in the database in the receiving system
Delete Delete records from the database in the receiving system
Replace Substitute existing records in the database in the receiving system
Null Add records or replace records in the database in the receiving system depending on whether the primary record exists in the database.
-If the primary record does NOT exist in the database, the system performs an Add action.
-If the primary record DOES exist in the database, the system performs a Replace action.

Flat File structure supports setting a specific action value at the header record in the flat structure, hence specifying an overall processing action that applies to all parent and child records in the file.
