Downloading and Installing CCMDB 7.2.1

News

Abstract

This page describes how to download and install IBM® Tivoli® Change and Configuration Management Database or IBM Tivoli Change Management for Service Providers.

Content

This document includes instructions for downloading the product images for IBM Tivoli Change and Configuration Management Database or IBM Tivoli Change Management for Service Providers and installing the product using those images. Both these products are referred to throughout this document as CCMDB. Product images are made available for download on IBM Passport Advantage. This document refers to each downloadable image in this format:

Table 1. Format for identifying a downloadable image
Part Number Image Name
CZLK5ML TCCMDB_V721_QS_TransL_DVD.zip

The part numbers supplied are those available at the initial electronic general availability of the product. If images are refreshed, the part numbers might change. Use the image names to confirm that you are downloading the correct files.

Note for AIX users:

Both the native AIX tar command and the GNU version of the tar command are required by the middleware installation program. Because the native utility does not support long file names, ensure that GNU tar version 1.14 or higher is installed, so that the installation files can be extracted. To download GNU tar, go to:
http://www.ibm.com/systems/p/os/aix/linux/toolbox/download.html.
In the box on the right, select "Alphabetically," then scroll down the list to the entry for tar with this description: "A GNU file archiving program." After you install GNU tar, verify that the system path variable contains both native AIX tar and GNU tar directories, with the GNU tar location being defined before the native AIX tar location. If you have set a symbolic link to overwrite the native AIX tar command with the GNU tar command, you will encounter an error.

Follow these steps to download and install CCMDB:

  1. Download and read the Quick Start Guide for the product you are installing.

    CZLK4ML TCCMDB_V721_QSG.pdf
    CZL8WML TCMfSP_V721_QSG.pdf
  2. Determine which product features you will install. One key decision is which components you will install: whether you will install only Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager (TADDM), CCMDB without TADDM, or both. Note that if you plan to install only TADDM initially but install the remaining components in the future, you might want to install the CCMDB middleware before you install TADDM. For more information, review the TADDM Installation Guide. You can view the TADDM documentation at Tivoli Documentation Central:
    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/display/tivolidoccentral/Tivoli+Application+Dependency+Discovery+Manager.
In addition, see Downloading and Installing TADDM 7.2.1 at: http://www.ibm.com/support/search.wss?q=taddm721download.
  3. Download the Quick Start DVD image for the product you will install:

    CZL8XML TCMfSP_V721_QS_TransL_DVD.zip
This image contains a copy of the information center for CCMDB. To view it, extract (unzip) the image and read the readme.txt file. If you prefer, you can visit the online information center at:
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/tivihelp/v32r1/index.jsp, or
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/tivihelp/v34r1/index.jsp for Change Management for Service Providers. The information center contains HTML and PDF versions of other information you will need. Note that the information for TADDM has been separated from the information for CCMDB for the convenience of those who will install only TADDM. You can view the TADDM documentation at Tivoli Documentation Central:
    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/display/tivolidoccentral/Tivoli+Application+Dependency+Discovery+Manager.
Review the Installation Guide for TADDM and, if you will install the remaining components, the Planning and Installation Guide for CCMDB.
  4. Ensure that your target machines meet the hardware and software prerequisites listed in the Planning and Installation Guides.
  5. Follow the links from the Quick Start Guide to locate and review the Release Notes. The Release notes contain information that you should review before beginning the installation process.
  6. Based on your target machines and the features you will install, follow the instructions in one or more of the following sections.

Using the Launchpad

Regardless of which components you plan to deploy, you can use the CCMDB Launchpad to start each installation process. The Launchpad images include the middleware installer and the CCMDB installer. On any machine except for the machine on which you install TADDM, you should download the Launchpad first. If you are installing only TADDM on a machine, use the TADDM Installation Wizard rather than downloading the Launchpad.

You must download the Launchpad onto each server where you will use it. There are separate launchpad images for Windows and other platorms. To use the Launchpad, download and extract the image for your product and platform:

Installing the TADDM component

Read the "Planning" section of the TADDM Installation Guide and complete the planning worksheet.

After you complete the TADDM planning worksheet, go to Downloading and Installing TADDM 7.2.1 at:
http://www.ibm.com/support/search.wss?q=taddm721download.

Installing the CCMDB middleware

Certain prerequisite products, called middleware, must be present before you install CCMDB. The middleware products provide functions required by CCMDB and, in some cases, by TADDM. Read the "Planning to deploy CCMDB" section of the CCMDB Planning and Installation Guide and complete the middleware planning worksheet. Identify which existing midleware products you will reuse and which middleware products you will install, and where. Choose one of the following sections based on your operating system and follow the steps to download and install.

Installing CCMDB

Read the "Planning to deploy CCMDB" section of the CCMDB Planning and Installation Guide and complete the planning worksheet. Download and extract the Launchpad images on the administrative workstation as described in Using the Launchpad. The Launchpad images contain all the files needed to install CCMDB, including the language pack. Follow the directions in the Planning and Installation Guide to install CCMDB on the J2EE server.

Installing Release Process Manager

Release Process Manager is a separately chargeable component of CCMDB. If you purchase Release Process Manager, you receive a Release Process Manager CD. After you have installed CCMDB, follow these steps to install Release Process Manager:

  1. Download one of these images:
Table 18. Release Process Manager images
    Part Number Image Name
    CZLC5ML TRPM_V721_Multplfrm.tar
    CZLG3ML TRPMfSP_V721_Multplfrm.tar
  2. Follow the directions in the Planning and Installation Guide to perform the installation.

Installing Integration Composer

The Integration Composer component performs the transfer and transformation of discovered data from TADDM or other sources to CCMDB. Read the "Using the Integration Composer installation program" section of the CCMDB Planning and Installation Guide to learn about installing Integration Composer. Download and extract the Launchpad images on the target machine as described in Using the Launchpad. The Launchpad images contain all the files needed to install Integration Composer. Follow the directions in the Planning and Installation Guide to install Integration Composer. After installing Integration Composer you must deploy the Integration Adapter for TADDM, as described in the Planning and Installation Guide.

Installing the Deployer's Workbench

The Deployer's Workbench is a new tool that enables you to design and define an authorized CI space for managed configuration items. Read the "Installing Deployer's Workbench" section of the CCMDB Planning and Installation Guide to learn about installing Deployer's Workbench. Download and extract the Launchpad images on the target machine as described in Using the Launchpad. The Launchpad images contain all the files needed to install Deployer's Workbench. Follow the directions in the Planning and Installation Guide to install Deployer's Workbench.
