In a number of cases, the Informix IDS service, the database embedded as part of IBM Cognos Express, stops functioning and it may not be possible to restart the service.
In this situation, the only option for recovery is for the administrator to restore the configuration and content from a pre-existing backup.
The fix for this issue is included in IBM Cognos Express 220.127.116.11 (version 9.0 Fix Pack 1).
It is strongly recommended that all customers install this fix pack in order to prevent the issue from occurring and avoid any loss of data.
