Rebuilding or initializing the NCH database for IS 4.1.x and IS 4.2 (UNIX Server Only) on IBM FileNet Image Services

Technote (FAQ)

Question

What are the procedures to rebuild or initialize the NCH database for IS 4.1.x and 4.2 on UNIX servers

Cause

Occasionally, during installations, upgrades, system restores, or migrations the IS NCH database becomes corrupted and requires that it is rebuilt. In IS 4.1.x and above the fn_setup command in addition to creating a new NCH database when it does not exist, also runs the licensing process. So, there is no longer a need to rebuild the NCH database manually through a series of IS line commands.

Answer

Reboot server

  1. Login as root
  2. type "mv /fnsw/local/sd/NCH_db0 /fnsw/local/sd/NCH_db0.save"
  3. run fn_setup
