DFHZC3433 Sense code 0864 with AZTI and DFHZC3435 Sense 800A with AZVE for transaction CITS

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

You try to transaction route from a CICS terminal owning region (TOR) to an application owning region (AOR) across an LU62 (APPC) connection and the TOR gets error message DFHZC3433 with sense code 08640000 and AbendAZTI and AbendAZTS. The AOR gets error messages DFHZC2458 and DFHZC3435 with sense code 800A0000. Transaction CITS gets AbendAZVE.

Symptom

The TOR gets these messages:
DFHZC3433 FMH7 was received on ISC session. Sense code is: 08640000 Error log data is: DFHAC2206 Transaction failed with abend AZTI
DFHAC2236 Transaction abend AZTS in program program name

The AOR gets these messages:
DFHZC2458 Exception response received to an exception response send
DFHZC3435 Path error detected. Device cannot be contacted. Sense 800A 0000
DFHAC2236 Transaction CITS abend AZVE in program DFHZATS term termid
DFHZN2701 Log data sent on ISC session is DFHAC2206 Transaction failed with abend AZTI
DFHAC2236 Transaction abend AZTI in program program name

Cause

SENDSIZE and RECEIVESIZE values in the SESSION were defined too large for VTAM (z/OS Communications Server) to handle.
In this case they were defined as 11,264 or x'2C00'.

Resolving the problem

There are two possible solutions to this problem:

  • Lower the SENDSIZE and RECEIVESIZE values in CICS

    or

  • Increase VTAM's ability to handle large data.
To do this, reference informational APAR II03990 for VTAM defintions that should be checked or set to allow a PIU of this size to flow. Make sure that you set MAXBFRU to at least 3 on both sides.
