Installed packages exceeds the maximum of 512

Troubleshooting


Problem

There is a hard limit of 512 catalog and attribute files that can reside on a TEMS. When this limit is reached the TEMS will not start. Deleting older catalog/attribute files will not resolve this issue.

Symptom

TEMS will not start..

Resolving The Problem

The only way to resolve this issue is to install an empty QA1CDSCA def file. This will create new QA1CDSCA.IDX and QA1CDSCA.DB files. After obtaining the .def file do the following:


1 - Save /Backup the files to a safe place QA1CDSCA.DB AND QA1CDSCA.IDX
2 - Create a temp directory
3 - Copy qa1cdsca.def file to TEMP
4 - Run kgldbutl.exe from the TEMP directory
C:\TEMP >c:\ibm\itm\cms\kgldbutl.exe < qa1cdsca.def

Index PrimaryIndex,U for database QA1CDSCA created

5 - Shut down the TEMS
6 - Copy the QA1CDSCA.DB AND QA1CDSCA.IDX to the /itm/cms directory
7 - Start up the TEMS

After the TEMS starts. new QA1CDSCA.IDX and QA1CDSCA.DB files will be created based on the number of currently defined catalog and attribute files.
