EIF Installer as non-root User may fail - /etc/TME

Problem(Abstract)

Linux or UNIX users can run the EIF installer either as root or as non-root. However, if running as a non-root user the install will fail because the non-root user does not have permission to create /etc/TME.

Symptom

(Date/Time), null, com.ibm.wizard.platform.linux. LinuxProductServiceImpl, msg1, installing Create Directory (mkdirWin2)

(Date/Time), null, com.installshield.product.actions. CreateDirectory, err, An error occurred and product installation failed. Look at the log file /tmp/itm_tec_event_sync_install.log for details.
(Date/Time), null, com.installshield.product.actions. CreateDirectory, err, ProductException: (error code = 601; message="err"; additional data = [ServiceException: (error code = 315; message = "could not create directory /etc/TME"; severity = 0)]) STACK_TRACE: 13

Cause

A non-root UserID may not have permission to create the /etc/TME directory

Resolving the problem

If a non-root User is used to perform the install, the /etc/TME directory should be created by the root User prior to installation.
