When trying to view a job log in DataStage Director, an error is received "Unable to open DICT 'RT_LOGnnn'."

Troubleshooting


Problem

This error indicates that the metadata for RT_LOG files, stored in D_RT_LOG, cannot be opened. In each project directory resides a number of UniVerse dictionary files, containing column definitions. If the dictionary file cannot be read, logs will fail to display with an error: Error selecting from log file RT_LOGnnn Command was: SSELECT RT_LOGnnn WITH @ID LIKE '1N0N' COUNT.SUP Error was: Unable to open DICT "RT_LOGnnn".

Resolving The Problem

Make sure the file D_RT_LOG exists in the project directory, and is readable by the DataStage user.

If the file is missing, copy the file from the Template project into this project directory. Set permissions on the file to 775 if needed.
