How to enable "Delete Discussion" in IBM Rational DOORS

Discussions in IBM Rational DOORS allow reviewers to exchange views about the content of a Module or the content of an Object within the Module.

You can create, view, modify and delete discussions for Modules and for Objects in Modules.

The following prerequisites should be met by you for deleting discussions:

1. Your user type in IBM Rational DOORS should be either a Database Manager, Project Manager or a Custom user whose set of powers includes Archive Data, Partition Data and Create Groups.
   
   
2. You can also delete the discussion if you are the person who created the discussion, and you are included in the Discussions Access list for the module. For information about the Discussions Access list, see “Controlling access for discussions in a module” of the IBM Rational DOORS Help section.
   

Here are the steps to exclude IBM Rational 9.0 and 9.1 clients:

1. Log in to Rational DOORS as a Database Manager or a Custom user who has the power to manage the database.
   
   
2. In the Database Explorer, make sure the Database view is selected (If necessary, click View > Database View)
   
   
3. In the left pane, click Database and then right-click Properties and click on the “Login Policy” tab.
   
   
4. Under the ‘Client versions’ section update the Minimum client version to 9.2.0.0
   
   
5. Click on Apply and OK.

The “Delete discussions” option should now be enabled and if you are a user who meets the prerequisites as explained above, you should now be able to delete Module/Object discussions.

Note: If the current version of IBM Rational DOORS being used in your organization is 9.1, you can still enable deletions by excluding IBM Rational DOORS 9.0 clients from the Database (update minimum client version to 9.1.0.0).
