Cannot retrieve data using JDBC Lookup within an eForm's cell from MS SQL 2005 database deployed on WAS 7.0 server

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

When attempting to retrieve data stored in a Microsoft® (MS) SQL database from an IBM ECM FileNet P8 eForms (eForms) cell within a P8 eForms ITX file using JDBC Lookup deployed on an IBM ECM Websphere application server (WAS), no information is returned.

Symptom

The following error appears when trying to retrieve data:

Unable to load the JDBC driver "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"

Cause

JDBC is not configured correctly to retrieve data from the database.

Resolving the problem

1. The following SQL Server driver files are required for JDBC Lookup: msbase.jar, mssqlserver.jar, msutil.jar

2. Verify the above jar files are in the <deployment location>/web-inf/lib directory. If these are not available download them from the Microsoft® web site and copy them to the above location. This should register the JDBC drivers.

3. If this does not work then make the following changes in the WAS Console:

3.1. Go to the WAS administration console (http://localhost:9060/admin)
3.2. Navigate to the Server section on the Navigation Menu on the left side of the screen.
3.3. Select Application Server, then navigate to Server1->Server Infrastructure->Java and Process Management->Process Definition->Java Virtual Machine
3.4. In the Class path text box, enter the location for the driver jar files “<deployment server>\WebContent\WEB-INF\lib\mssqlserver.jar”
