Question

How do you connect to a Proventia Network Security Controller (NSC) or Proventia Network Active Bypass (NAB) using a serial cable?

Answer

The NSC and NAB appliances use serial interface settings that are different than those used by other IBM Security appliances. This article lists the settings necessary to connect to a PNSC or PNAB appliance with a serial cable.

  1. Connect a serial cable from your local system to the NSC or NAB.

  2. Configure a terminal emulator with the following settings:

    Bits per second: 115,200
    Data bits: 8
    Parity: N
    Stop: 1
    Flow Control: None
    Emulation: VT100
