Deployment of Standalone Applications on IBM WebSphere sMash

Technote (FAQ)

Question

What are the steps to deploy a standalone IBM WebSphere sMash application?

Answer

An IBM WebSphere sMash application which has been packaged as a zipfile using the standalone option (as opposed to the shared option), is a larger package containing a private repository with all the required modules. It also includes a copy of the CLI, so that the zip may be expanded, resolved, and started on another machine where the only requirement is a JDK.

Following are the steps to deploy the package:

1) Unzip the package manually using any platform-standard zip tool such as jar.exe - no zero command is needed.

2) Following the unzip, issue "zero update" on the application directory.

See the IBM WebSphere sMash Information Center for additional information.
