How to increase the RER crash sensitivity in Rational Rhapsody

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How do you increase the RER crash reporting sensitivity in IBM Rational Rhapsody?

Cause

You would like to increase the crash sensitivity if the RER crash report is either not being created or does not contain enough information.

Answer

When Rational Rhapsody crashes, the error information is stored in a separate directory named RER.

This folder can be found in the Rhapsody installation directory.

To increase the crash reporting sensitivity, you would need to change the value of the RER_DUMP_LEVEL flag in the Rhapsody.ini file.

By default the values in the Rhapsody.ini file would look like:

[RER]

RER_ENABLED=TRUE
RER_DUMP_LEVEL = 0
RER_CALL_SUPPORT_INFO=TRUE
RER_DIR=<install>\RER

The value of RER_DUMP_LEVEL can be increased from 0 up to 2

Modify, Save and Restart Rational Rhapsody.
