Error attempting to create new LDAP user registry for Jazz Team Server with Websphere Application Server
This technote explains how to resolve an error thrown to the Jazz setup page, when trying to configure LDAP as the user registry from the Jazz setup page, where the Jazz Team server is hosting on the IBM Websphere Application Server
You have Jazz team server deployed to Websphere Application server, and has configured Standalone LDAP registry realm from Websphere Admin console. You have also deployed Jazz.war to this Websphere Application server instance. You logon with a LDAP ID 12345 to the Jazz setup page. After fill in all the LDAP parameters from step # 5, and the test connection indicates a successful connection with your LDAP server. You then try to click on the "Next" button to continue the setup, but the following error is thrown, which stop you from continue on completing the setup:

Also the following error is thrown to Jazz.log:
CRJAZ1186I Authenticated user "12345" does not exist in the repository
In this particular scenario, the LDAP user ID: 12345 does not exist in the LDAP tree where Jazz is configured to perform user search from, rather is located in a different LDAP tree. However, it does belong to the LDAP group with JazzAdmins access. Therefore, it can login to the Jazz setup page, but when Jazz tries to import it into the Jazz Team server area, it can not be found that leads to the above error.
Resolving the problem
To resolve this issue, try to login to the Jazz Admin page with a LDAP ID that meets the following two criteria:
- The LDAP ID has to be exist in the LDAP tree where Jazz is configured to perform user search from, for example, if Jazz is configured to search in development.mycompany.com, then the ID you use to login to the setup page needs to exist in development.mycompany.com, but not in other LDAP tree like marketing.mycompany.com.
- The LDAP ID has to be included in the LDAP group that map to the JazzAdmin role.
