Using multiple Microsoft Active Directory Server partitions or Lightweight Directory Access Protocols with Rational Directory Server

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How do I reference multiple Microsoft Active Directory Server partitions or Lightweight Directory Access Protocols with Rational Directory Server

Cause

This is not currently possible within the product

Answer

Current architecture of Rational Directory Server cannot create a cross reference between 2 different Lightweight Directory Access Protocols.

However it is possible to use a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol Aggregator to reference users from 2 Lightweight Directory Access Protocols or partitions simultaneously.

A couple of examples of aggregators are:

  • Tivoli Directory Integrator
  • Microsoft Active Directory Server Aggregator.

Once the aggregator has been configured to the multiple Lightweight Directory Access Protocols, the Rational Directory Server corporate partition can be then created against the aggregator.
