Missing sample projects on 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2

Troubleshooting

Problem

After completing a new installation (not an upgrade) of the Rational® RequisitePro® Web components (RequisiteWeb) version 7.1.1.1 on the 64-bit version of Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2, the sample projects are not listed in the Project drop-down menu.

Symptom

The problem is reproducible in all the x64-bit operating systems (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2). On these platforms there are two different paths for the installation: "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)". If Rational RequisitePro is installed in the "Program Files (x86)" path, the catalog.txt does not have the correct path to the example projects.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the problem, edit the catalog.txt file to include the correct path for the sample projects.

Open the catalog.txt file, which is located here by default:

C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalSDLC\RequisitePro\ReqWeb\projects

Change the example project paths from:

C:\Program Files\IBM\RationalSDLC\RequisitePro\samples\Learning_Project-Use_Cases\LEARNING - USE CASES.RQS
C:\Program Files\IBM\RationalSDLC\RequisitePro\samples\Learning_Project-Traditional\LEARNING - TRADITIONAL.rqs

To:

C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalSDLC\RequisitePro\samples\Learning_Project-Use_Cases\LEARNING - USE CASES.RQS
C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalSDLC\RequisitePro\samples\Learning_Project-Traditional\LEARNING - TRADITIONAL.rqs

Save the changes to the catalog.txt file and close it.
