Functionality of the Job Plan Duration

Question & Answer

Question

Is there a purpose for the Duration field in Job Plans on the PM generation process?

Cause

Answer

If a JobPlan has a duration of 4 hours for example, that will determine how many hours it will take to complete the work.
The duration is added to the target start to determine the target completion.
The duration is independent of frequency on the PM. If a PM has a frequency to generate every 1 weeks; when the target completion date displays on the generated work order the additional duration will indicate an estimation of how long its going to take to perform the work.

The Frequency on a PM indicates how often work orders will get generated. The duration is an estimate of how long it will take to perform the work. The target dates don't have any bearing on work order generation. They are simply used as a guidance to indicate when the work will be completed.
