No need to perform a 'Remove' action on a 6.1.0, 6.1.1, 126.96.36.199, 6.1.2 or 6.1.3 Windows based Connection Manager prior to installing 6.1.4.
With Microsoft Windows Server based Lotus Mobile Connect (LMC) 6.1.0/6.1.1/188.8.131.52/6.1.2/6.1.3 it is necessary to perform a Windows 'Remove/Uninstall' of the Connection Manager in order to update to a new build level or new product release level. With Lotus Mobile Connect 6.1.4 a proper migration or update is supported. The 6.1.4 release supports upgrading to a new build or new level as it should. It just updates the files. You do not remove the old release first.
It is important to note that if the 6.1.4 Connection Manager does have a Windows 'Remove/Uninstall' action performed on it, the C:\Program Files\IBM\Connection Manager\wgated.conf file will be removed as well. This file stores basic Access Manager configuration which lets the Connection Manager know where to look for its configuration, session storage, and other primary settings. If this is done no permanent damage has been done to the LMC configuration, but the Access Manager will need to be configured again.
On the first launch of the Gatekeeper for a 6.1.4 LMC which was previously 'removed' the Access Manager wizard will be launched to guide the administrator to configure the Access Manager again. Once this is completed the administrator will have access to all of the previous configuration settings.
To avoid this, simply execute the new LMC_ConnMgr_614.exe image which IBM Support has provided for maintenance. To confirm a new build or level has been installed run lswg -V | more from a command line, or from the Gatekeeper, right mouse click on the Connection Manager object in the left pane, select 'Properties' from the context menu, then select the 'About' tab in the right hand pane.
The data will show the product release and more importantly, the build date which has a format of
YYYYMMDD_HHMM = YearMonthDay_HourMinute
