Excel 2007 output exports 65,536 rows per Worksheet

Troubleshooting

Problem

When exporting a list report to Excel 2007 format, the output is exported to multiple Worksheets after 65,536 rows. How can this limit be changed to allow all rows exported to a single Worksheet?

Cause

By default Cognos limits number of rows exported to Excel Worksheets to maintain compatibility for older Microsoft Excel versions.

Resolving The Problem

Advanced parameter RSVP.EXCEL.EXCEL_2007_WORKSHEET_MAXIMUM_ROWS is available to configure Cognos to export to the maximum rows to an Excel Worksheet, 1,048,576 rows.
RSVP.EXCEL.EXCEL_2007_LARGE_WORKSHEET=TRUE
RSVP.EXCEL.EXCEL_2007_WORKSHEET_MAXIMUM_ROWS=1048576

Documentation for configuring the Advanced Parameter
- Configuring the report and batch report services to use large worksheets

Another option is to Export to CSV and open in Excel. Note that this exports the query results and will not export charts, crosstab and report formatting.
