Additional configuration to add IBM Sametime awareness when using IBM iNotes with IBM Mobile Connect HTTP Access Service (Clientless) Sametime Proxy method

Fix readme

Abstract

To integrate the embedded IBM Sametime Client inside of IBM iNotes through IBM Mobile Connect there is additional configuration to be done on IBM Mobile Connect and in IBM Domino. This article describes that process in detail.

Content

Important Notes before starting this configuration to integrate Sametime awareness into IMC for use with the IBM iNotes Client.

  • In order to use the embedded Sametime Client via iNotes and IMC the IBM Sametime Proxy server must be installed and configured along with the IBM Sametime Community Server.
  • Prior to testing, you must configure Single Sign-On by exporting the LTPA Token from the IMC server and importing it into the Domino Web SSO Configuration for LtpaToken document in the Domino Directory used by the Domino Mail, and Sametime Community servers.
  • When configuring LDAP, make sure that the base DN selected is the correct branch for all users.
  • For the Sametime Proxy server to work with iNotes through the IMC, the URL for Sametime MUST be secure (https).
  1. Edit the HTTP Access Service using the IMC Gatekeeper and ensure that on the Server Tab the following Server URL's are present: (substitute the actual URL values as the values here are examples only)
iNOTES http://mail01.acme.com
SAMETIME https://st01.acme.com:9444

2. Also on the “ Server” tab, make sure that ' Accept untrusted certificates from internal servers' is selected. This saves the administration time of Receiving a certificate from the Sametime Proxy server.

3. On the “ IBM Mobility” tab, make sure that both ' Enable Lotus iNotes integration' and ' Enable iNotes Sametime awareness' are selected. For the ' Sametime server URL', enter the secure URL for the Sametime Proxy server (https://st01.acme.com:9444).

4. Follow the procedures in the IMC wiki for configuring and exporting the LTPAToken key from the IMC server: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/lmc/v6r1/topic/com.ibm.lmc_6.1.5.doc/lightweight_third_party_authentication_support.htm

5. The LTPAToken key that was exported from the IMC server must be imported into the Domino Web SSO Configuration for LtpaToken document in the Domino Directory used by the Domino Mail, and Sametime Community servers for single sign-on to work properly between the IMC server and the back-end servers.

Also in the Domino Directory, edit the Default ( * - [All Servers]) Configuration document, and on the "Lotus iNotes" tab, in the “ Instant Messaging” section, configure iNotes to use the Sametime Proxy server by setting the following:
● Set the ' Instant messaging features' to Sametime Web Client Integration
● Set the ' Online awareness' to Enabled
● Set the ' Directory type used by IBM Lotus Sametime server' to Domino LDAP since that is the LDAP type that is being used
● Set the ' Location of the Sametime proxy server to use when using http' to http://st01.acme.com:9081
● Set the ' Location of the Sametime proxy server to use when using https' to https://st01.acme.com:9444

6. Also in the Domino Directory, create an Organizational Policy document and then create an assigned Mail Settings document for that policy that has the following configured in the ' Instant Messaging' section on the ' Lotus iNotes' > ' Configuration' tab of the Mail Setting document:
● Select Yes for ' Instant messaging features'
● Select Yes for ' Use Sametime Web Client Integration'
● Set the ' Location of the Sametime proxy server to use when using http' to http://st01.acme.com:9081
● Set the ' Location of the Sametime proxy server to use when using https' to https://st01.acme.com:9444
● Set the ' Directory type used by Sametime server' to Domino LDAP since that is the LDAP type that is being used
Set the ' Online awareness' to Enabled

7. In order to ensure that iNotes is using the correct settings for the Sametime Proxy server, particularly when going through a reverse proxy server, like the IMC, the following settings were added to the notes.ini file on the Domino mail servers:
iNotes_WA_SametimeProxyServer=http://st01.acme.com:9081
iNotes_WA_SametimeProxyServerSSL=https://st01.acme.com:9444
iNotes_WA_SametimeProxy=1
iNotes_WA_SametimeProxyLogin=0
