Academic Initiative program for IBM ILOG Optimization products
Content
IBM Academic Initiative is a global program that facilitates the collaboration between IBM and educators to teach students the information technology skills they need to be competitive and keep pace with changes in the workplace. Faculty members, research professionals at accredited institutions, and qualifying members of standards organizations can join and can get full versions of a large selection of IBM software, including IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio at no charge. More information about IBM ILOG Optimization products in the IBM Academic Initiative can be found on this page https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/university/support/ilog.html

What Changes
- Starting in May 2012, ILOG Optimization products that are available to Academic Initiative members no longer require license keys. The various versions of IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio Academic Research Edition available on the software catalog are replaced by IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio. If you downloaded an ILOG Optimization product that requires a key, we recommend that you replace it with a new version from the Academic Initiative Software Catalog that does not require a key.
- If you do not want to download a new ILOG Optimization product, you can replace the key on your current product with the latest key posted on the ILOG Optimization Key Request page. This last key is valid until the end of December 2013. Past this date, ILOG Optimization products that require a key will stop functioning. Also note, there will not be any new fix packs for IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio Academic Research Edition installations.
-If you download a version from the Academic Initiative Software Catalog that does not require a key, it will install by default in a different location than IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio Academic Research Edition. For example IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio 12.4 on Windows installs by default in the folder C:\Program Files\IBM\ILOG\CPLEX_Studio124
We are excited to be making our software available to academics through IBM Academic Initiative, and once you are registered, encourage you to visit the Operations Research and Management Science teaching topic (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/university/teachingtopics/or_ms.html).
Once you have installed the software, we hope that you will also become an active member of our discussion forums (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=260), a community we have created for you to get support from other academics like yourself, as well as IBM contributors.
