Question

Errors ORA-27192, ORA-19511, and ANS1235E (RC-72) during LANFree Oracle RMAN backup

Cause

Client session timed out

Answer

During an Oracle RMAN backup using TSM Storage Agent for LANFree , the following errors are seen in the TDP for Oracle log:

ORA-27192: skgfcls: sbtclose2 returned error - failed to close file
ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
ANS1235E (RC-72) An unknown system error has occurred from which TSM cannot recover.

To resolve the issue, add or change the following options in the TSM server dsmserv.opt, AND in the Storage Agent file dsmsta.opt:

IDLETIMEOUT 60
COMMTIMEOUT 3600

After changes are made, recycle both, the TSM server and the Storage Agent for the changes to take effect, and then retry the operation again.

Please note, the above values are suggestions only, but depending on the size of the database being backed up, the hardware involved, network, amongst other factors, the above options may be set to values that could be lower or higher than what is shown.
