Supported formats:
When defining a device class for LTO-5 drives, use
- o devtype=LTO
o format=<DRIVE | ULTRIUM5 | ULTRIUM5C>
- Example:
DEFine DEVclass devclassname DEVType=LTO FORMAT=DRIVE .....
DEFine DEVclass devclassname DEVType=LTO FORMAT=ULTRIUM5 .....
DEFine DEVclass devclassname DEVType=LTO FORMAT=ULTRIUM5C .....
ULTRIUM5 - Specifies that IBM Tivoli Storage Manager writes data that uses the ULTRIUM5 recording format. This format results in a cartridge capacity of 1.5 TB when using Ultrium 5 media.
ULTRIUM5C - Specifies that IBM Tivoli Storage Manager writes data that uses the ULTRIUM5 recording format with compression. This format results in a cartridge capacity of 3 TB when using Ultrium 5 media.
Supported media:
o LTO5 data cartridge ( Read/Write )
o LTO4 data cartridge ( Read/Write )
o LTO3 data cartridge ( Read Only )

Device driver:
The Tivoli Storage Manager device driver is required on AIX, HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris. The Tivoli Storage Manager device driver is available with the Tivoli Storage Manager Server or Storage Agent installation package. On Windows, we recommend using the Windows native device driver for the tape drive. See Technote 1504587 for more information on the device drivers on Windows.
Mixed media support:
o To mix LTO-4 and LTO-5 media in a library that does not have mixed media support, all drives in the library must be LTO-5 and device class format must be set to DRIVE.
o Mixing LTO4 and LTO5 media in a library with a drive that is setup for Application Managed Encryption is not supported.
Drive cleaning:
Automatic cleaning via the CLEANFREQuency=ASNEEDED option is supported.
Encryption support:
Application Managed Encryption is supported on HP LTO-5 drives.
