Question
Is it possible to run the dsrpc daemon process as a non-root user?
Answer
The dsrpc daemon is essentially a Unix logon service designed to support local and remote DataStage clients. The dsrpc is a daemon process. It listens on incoming connection requests from other process, it has to be run as root to have the ability to work properly. While it might be possible to run the dsrpcd process with a non-root user on certain platforms with the IMPERSONATION tunable disabled, it would require that everyone log in as the user who owns dsrpcd.
