Abstract
Internet Explorer error when invoking 6.2.2 TEP Browser client
Content
On a Windows system with a 6.2.2 TEPS installed, the TEP Browser client will fail to initialize when invoked in the following manner through the MTEMS (Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Services) GUI:
- right-click on the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Browser task
- left-click on Start
In the bottom-left portion of the Internet Explorer (IE) window, you will see a triangle with a yellow exclamation point indicating an error. If you double-click on the icon and select Show Details, you will see the following screen:
If you select the Previous button, you will see the following screen:
Depending on the number of components you have installed TEP browser application support for, the Line number may vary slightly.
The cause of this error is that the MTEMS action is adding the following line to the end of the <ITMHOME>\CNB\applet.html file:
JAVA_HOME=C:\IBM\ITM\java\java50\jre
To resolve the problem, remove the JAVA_HOME line from the applet.html file, save the file and restart the browser client by either directly entering the URL in IE or by double-clicking the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Browser task in the MTEMS GUI.
APAR IZ65395 addresses this issue. The fix for this APAR is available in all versions of ITM 6.2.2 FP2 and above. Note that this problem only affects the 6.2.2 TEP Browser client on Windows.
