Locating IBM Rational Focal Point logs when installed with IBM Websphere

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Where is the location of IBM Rational Focal Point logs when installed with IBM Websphere?

Answer

Various type of logs and their locations are as below:

These logs are created when you deploy or undeploy the Database pool or Focal Point pool.

For Database deploy or undeploy logs:

  • When you deploy the database pool (For example:. Postgres database pool or IBM DB2 database pool) a log file called "dbdeploy.log" is created under <Focal Point install directory>\fpconfig.
  • Similarly when you undeploy the database a log file called "dbundeploy.log" is created under <Focal Point install directory>\fpconfig.

For Focal Point deploy logs:
  • When you deploy Focal Point a log file called "fpdeploy.log" is created under <Focal Point install directory>\fpconfig.
  • Similarly when you undeploy Focal Point a log file called "fpundeploy.log" is created under <Focal Point install directory>\fpconfig.

These log files can be used to check what went wrong if your the database pool or if Focal Point server is not getting deployed properly in IBM websphere server.

These log files will also be useful when your IBM websphere server fail at startup because of database pool or Focal Point.
