Exceptions thrown during installation of WebSphere Integration Developer

Question

You receive an exception during the installation of WebSphere Integration Developer. The installation manager log file shows the following error: java.io.Exception: CreateProcess: "C:\Program Files\...\security.update.bat" error = 5.

The error indicates that there is a file access permission problem, it can be caused by the following conditions:

  1. The installation user does not have an administrator role for the system.
  2. The installation user does not have the read permission to access the installation image folders.
  3. The installation user does not have the write permission to create the files in the target installation folders.
  4. An anti-virus/security program is blocking WebSphere Integration Developer installer from installing the product.

Answer

You can resolve the problem by following the guidelines below:

  1. The installation must be run as an administrator.
  2. Ensure that the installation user has the read/write permission to access the installation images and the target installation folder.
  3. Disable any anti-virus or security program which might be interfering with the WebSphere Integration Developer installation.
  4. If the anti-virus or security program cannot be disabled, restart the system in windows safe mode, and run the installation.
