Information Server QualityStage Match error: "Block overflow limit of 100000 exceeds the maximum allowed value".

Technote (troubleshooting)

If poor blocking variables are defined in QualityStage match specification step or the user overrides the default Match Designer option: "Enter Overflow Value(s)", then the following error may occur:
"Block overflow limit of <Enter Overflow Value> exceeds the maximum allowed value of <limit>"

As a result, too many like records are blocked (grouped) together to be compared in the matching process. Like records indicates having the same data attributes within 1 field.

Resolving the problem

To resolve the over flow blocking error the following two design changes are recommended:

  • Do not edit the default "Enter Overflow Value(s)" in the Match Designer interface. This value determines the maximum number of records that can be combined into one set.
  • Ensure the fields used in the blocking logic do not have a lot of default values present. An example of such conditions are, all blanks or default value such as "00000","1111"...
