Question & Answer

Question

How do you remove a DB2 license from a Linux, Unix, or Windows machine?

Answer

You may remove the DB2 license using either one of the below methods.

Method 1:

Login as the SYSADM user on UNIX/Linux or a user which belongs to the Local Administrators group on Windows. Run "db2licm -r product identifier". To get the product identifier for a specific product, invoke the db2licm command with the -l option.

Method 2:

Login as user ROOT on UNIX/Linux or a user which belongs to the Local Administrators group on Windows. Rename the nodelock file to nodelock.bak and re-add any licenses that you want to keep on the machine. To re-add the license run "db2licm -a filename". The filename will end with a .lic extension. For example "db2licm -a db2ese_c.lic".

Please below on the location of the nodelock:

On Unix/Linux systems the nodelock file is located in the /opt/ibm/db2/<DB2 copy name>/license

On Windows systems:
Windows 2008, 7: C:\Program Data\<DB2 copy name>\license directory
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Applications Data\IBM\DB2\<DB2 copy name>\license
