Repeal of Argentina Daylight Saving Time 2009 affects Sametime Connect 8.0.x

 Flash (Alert)

Abstract
Argentina's discontinuance of observing Daylight Saving Time (DST), announced on 16 October 2009, affects the Lotus Sametime Connect client; the time stamp included in the chat window will be off by +1:00 hour during the DST change period. A workaround is available, and a fix is being developed.

Content
Argentina introduced the observance of daylight saving time (DST) in 2007. On 16 October 2009, the government of Argentina announced that it would not continue observing DST. This ends Argentina's observance of daylight saving time.

-- In 2007 DST started on the last Sunday in December and ended the second Saturday in March (30 December 2007 to 15 March 2008).

-- In 2008 DST started on the third Saturday in October and ended the second Saturday in March (18 October 2008 to 14 March 2009).

-- For 2009 DST was scheduled to begin the third Saturday in October and end the second Saturday in March (17 October 2009 to 13 March 2010).

Effective immediately, DST will no longer be observed in Argentina.

Effect on Sametime Connect Client

The time stamp included in the chat window will be off by +1:00 hour during the DST change period.

(Note: This problem has no effect on the Sametime embedded in a Lotus Notes 8.5 client (standard configuration). For information on impact to Notes/Domino, refer to "Steps to Prepare Notes/Domino for the Repeal of Argentina Daylight Saving Time 2009" (#1316451).)

Resolving the problem

To work around the problem for the Sametime Connect client, change the operating system Time Zone to (GMT-03:00) Cayenne, where there is no DST period. Disabling "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving change" in Date and Time Properties for (GMT-03:00) Buenos Aires will not fix this problem.
