Is it possible to auto-number items in Maximo?
Answer
Yes. You can set up auto-numbering for your items in the following manner:
1. Go to the Database Configuration and bring up the ITEM object.
2. Add ITEMNUM to the Autonumber field.
3. Add &AUTOKEY& to the Default Value field.
4. Configure the database.
5. Go to the Organization application and set the auto-number seed and a prefix for ITEMNUM.
