Prerequisite for using Update Installer with WebSphere Partner Gateway v6.2 on existing cell.

Troubleshooting


Problem

When WPG v6.2 is installed on an existing cell, ( non-default WPG cell), some configuration data does not get laid down under WPG profile which is required for usage of update installer, so as to determine the machine details. It is recommended and mandatory to follow the below steps, before using Update Installer for WPGv6.2 installed on an existing cell.

Symptom

The installation of fix packs, maintenance fixes does not happen properly against deployment manager location.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve this problem, download the below files as appropriate for the operating system being used, and perform the mentioned steps.

On Windows Operating System

  1. Copy attached "bcgSetupCmdLine.bat" file, and place it under location of <Full path to DMGR Profile installed on existing cell>\bin

(e.g. C:\WAS\Profiles\Dmgr01\bin)
    • bcgSetupCmdLine.bat

On Non-Windows Operating System

  1. Copy attached "bcgSetupCmdLine.sh" file, and place it under location of <Full path to DMGR Profile installed on existing cell>/bin

(e.g. /opt/IBM/WAS/Profiles/Dmgr01/bin)
    • bcgSetupCmdLine.sh

    1. Edit the "bcgSetupCmdLine.sh" file and change the value for BCGHUB_HOME variable.
    • The value for this variable should be the install location of DMGR profile.
    • For eg; if the non-default WPG cell is installed under location of /opt/IBM/WAS/Profiles, and the profile name used for WPG is WPG_Profile then the value for BCGHUB_HOME would be:
        • BCGHUB_HOME=/opt/IBM/WAS/Profiles/WPG_Profile
    2. Ensure that user "root" has read, write and execute permission's on this file.
