Generate Support Request results in run-time error '76': Path not found

How can I submit a support requestfrom within IBM Rational Rhapsody when encountering the run time error “Path not found”?


Message box shows: Run Time Error -76, Path Not Found


This has been identified as a defect and logged as APAR ID : PK89456.

This error is seen only when the directory structure (Local Settings\Application Data) is missing in the user’s home path.

Resolving the problem

To workaround the issue and submit a support request from within Rhapsody:

  1. Check for the CFM installation in the default path (C:\Program Files\Common Files\IBM\Rational\Shared\CFM\2.0\SupportInfo.exe).
  2. Check the homepath of the machine: Type in “echo %HOMEPATH%” in the command prompt.
  3. Create the directory structure (Local Settings\Application Data) in the homepath
  4. Invoke Help -> Generate Support Request from Rhapsody.
